Transit Card: You can buy a transit card (like Octopus in HK) that you can use in taxis, subways, and for some purchases. They're great.

Taxis: Always ask for and retain a receipt-it has the driver+car's info. When you forget something (in cab) call the company & get it back.

Taxis:Look at their license - the lower the 6-digit number the longer they have been driving. In 2009 new drivers hit the 300,000+ mark.
